BIBLE TEACHERS IN TRAINING
June 16, 2005
Last week Kumans began teaching evangelistic Bible lessons to their people in two locations.
Missionary Ken White and a group of Kuman believers have been teaching in one area while his co-worker Will Tallman and other potential Bible teachers are ministering in another village. Ken and Will are praying that the Kuman men who are training to be teachers will "become comfortable with teaching and with challenging the long-held beliefs of their fellow villagers."
A dozen people in each location seem very interested in the teaching. They are learning foundational truths about God and key Old Testament stories. Soon they will begin hearing of the life of Christ and, by mid-August, of His death, burial and resurrection.
By August, perhaps another book of the New Testament will be available for the believers. A translation consultant will be checking Ephesians on Monday. Pray for a clear and accurate reading.
"Our number of believers is rapidly increasing," wrote Will. "We try to get God's Word into their hands as soon as possible so we are doing a lot more printing … of Scripture, Bible lessons and literacy materials."
Pray that the Kumans will grow in their knowledge of God as more of His Word is made available. And pray that those who are teaching will be faithful and bold in their presentation of the Gospel.
