Po Sit to the rescue.
After missionary Martin Schumacher lost his language helper, Po Maen, a few months ago, God provided a very knowledgeable replacement.
Po Maen\'s father, Po Sit, a village leader, offered his services so that Martin could continue learning the culture and language of the Isan people in Thailand, as he prepares to clearly present God\'s Word to them.
Po Sit "has a gift to explain things and he has a lot of insight as a village headman which he is willing to share," Martin wrote. "During the last few months I discussed different topics with him like kinship relations and kinship terms, the rice planting cycle, a whole funeral with all its steps and different ceremonies, etc.
"For the third stage of language and culture study I needed exactly a person like him. Somebody that is willing to explain the things that are not observable anymore but are common knowledge to the villagers, that knowledge which is passed on from generation to generation."
Please pray for Martin and Po Sit as they work together to give Martin the knowledge and abilities in the culture and language that are needed to clearly present the Gospel to the Isan people in a relevant way.
