VISION

HOME

Reaching new tribes

until the last tribe has been reached

Our vision, simply stated, is to establish healthy churches among the many isolated and indigenous people groups who have no access to the Gospel.

This was the vision at the time of NTM’s beginning in 1942, and remains our vision today.

It’s not that we are not concerned for the many needs among other people, but having a narrow focus allows us to do our work well.

Praise the Lord for the many different organizations that labour in urban settings and among the largest people groups of the world!  Their targeted efforts allow us to concentrate our efforts on the many different tribal people who are equally in need of salvation.

Estimates vary but a realistic estimate is that there are 4,000 languages that have not even one Scripture verse translated into their language.

Planting tribal churches begins from three perspectives:

  1. to train and equip Canadian believers to establish tribal churches among tribal people around the world,
  2. to train and equip national believers to establish churches among the tribal people within their own country,
  3. to train and equip tribal believers to establish more churches among their own people, and among neighbouring tribal groups.

Paul Fleming, one of the men who the Lord used to bring New Tribes Mission into being said:

“Oh, that we might become conscious of the value of a lost soul.  If we could get closer to the heart of God and sense the thing which He gave His life for, if we were directed by His love we would give our time to seek out those things that have real eternal values…the souls of men”.

Vision is only one of NTMC’s distinctives.

NTM_USA Text - NTM coordinates missionaries, sent by local churches, to take the Gospel to tribal people. Missionaries then plant churches. They disciple believers, translate the Scriptures, and train teachers and leaders, who in turn reach out to their own people and to neighboring tribes.
